The heart behind Kindred Hours
Kindred Hours began with a very special lady: Our mum, Severina.
Mum spent her life making everyone feel like they belonged. When she became ill, we had the privilege of looking after her for her final years. Those days were filled with quiet, beautiful moments—sharing a cup of tea, a laugh over a memory, and simply being present. It was a profound 'full circle' experience; after a lifetime of her holding us, we were finally able to hold her. We felt such immense gratitude for that time together.
Throughout that journey, We were moved by the gentle support of neighbours and friends who popped in to say hello and so much more. It made me realise how much a little companionship matter. However, I also saw how many older people across our community don’t have that same circle of support and face the day entirely alone.
That is why Kindred Hours exists. We are here to offer that same warmth and steady friendship to those who need it most. Whether it is a friendly chat, a helping hand, or just a familiar face, our goal is to ensure no one has to navigate life’s chapters without a kind soul by their side.
This is my tribute to Severina, the love of my life; my mama and our promise to be there for your loved ones, just as we would for our own.
